Service Project Coordinator Bio

Ketzia Jimenez

Ketzia Jimenez is currently a second-year student majoring in political science with a minor in sociology.

Ketzia started her journey in DECA in high school at East Career and Technical Academy (East CTA). She joined the organization to build her self-confidence, leadership skills, and be more involved in her school community. During her sophomore year, Ketzia competed in Hospitality & Tourism Professional Selling. She placed first for her presentation and third overall at state making her an ICDC qualifier. She was able to participate in ICDC 2019 in Orlando, Florida.

Inspired by these experiences, Ketzia decided to apply for a board representative position. She became a Representative of Career Development during her junior year. She served as Vice President of Career Development during her senior year. Ketzia’s experience in the area of career development came from enjoying conferences, competitions, and wanting to inspire others to go.

DECA also inspired her to participate in a program created by UNLV’s International Gaming Institute (IGI) called Young Executive Scholars (Y.E.S), a Hospitality & Tourism summer program. In this summer program, Ketzia had a chance to learn more about the hospitality and tourism industry in Las Vegas. She also received a completion certificate and scholarship.

Before attending college, Ketzia knew she wanted to continue her DECA journey and joined UNLV’s Collegiate DECA chapter. She attended the Engage 2021 conference in Austin, Texas during her first semester of college. She has participated in various school and community events during her time as a Collegiate DECA member. Ketzia currently is UNLV Collegiate DECA’s Service Project Coordinator.

For her future plans, Ketzia hopes to attend and compete at ICDC. She also hopes to continue being involved in her chapter and as an alumna for East CTA’s high school chapter.
