Our #FabFriday goes to our first year member Bonnie Lei! Bonnie is a graduate of Southwest Career and Technical Academy where she started her high school DECA and FCCLA Career. She is currently pursuing a degree in business and as a freshmen, she has done remarkable feats. Bonnie has actively contributed to various projects from the Applebee’s Breakfast Social Fundraiser to competing in UNLV DECA’s intense competition, Shark Tank. The 2nd Annual Shark Tank challenged teams to develop a strong business plan for Kona Ice’s shaved ice kart deployment at UNLV. In a week after receiving the case study, each team went through a preliminary round where a panel of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and angel investors selected the best teams to proceed to the final round at the Nevada DECA State Career Development Conference in February 2015. Bonnie and her team passed the preliminary round with older members of our chapter on the other teams which is a remarkable accomplishment! When Bonnie is not competing, Bonnie takes on various tasks for different projects and encourages members to have fun while they’re working. Within five minutes, Bonnie can make any member smile. Thank you for your hard work and we look forward to amazing years with you!

“The emphasis on individual initiative, accomplishment and recognition is fundamental to DECA’s success during our first 50 years and it will be an important part of our future.” – Dr. Edward Davis, Former DECA Executive Director
